Chocolate Espresso Oatmeal

Serves 1

Ingredients

1/2 cup rolled oats

1 tbsp cacao powder

1 cup milk of choice

Pinch of salt

1 shot of espresso

Optional Toppings:

Sliced banana

Chopped nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts)

Seeds (e.g., chia, flax)

Drizzle of honey or maple syrup

Method

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the oats, cacao powder, milk and salt. Stir well to dissolve the cacao powder, and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Once simmering, add the shot of espresso and stir again to combine.

  2. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes, or until the oats are soft and the porridge has thickened to your desired consistency. Pour into a bowl, then add your favourite toppings.
